Why I love running on rainy days

I may have talked about this in the blog before, but I feel like talking about it again. Running in the rain is a whole different experience.
Whenever I run in the rain it reminds me of my childhood. When you are young, especially if you live in a hot place like Bangladesh, rain is a blessing. Every rainy season it would pour. But the rain during summer was different. All the frustration of a hot summer day would go away as soon as the clouds formed up and you could smell the petrichor. That meant rain was here. The temperatures had dropped. The sound of rain was music to our ears. And getting drenched in that rain was another part of it all. Jumping in puddles. Feeling the rain droplets. Then finally coming home and having a hot meal while watching the rain. Simple pleasures of life.
Every time I run in the rain, it takes me back to these moments. It also reminds me of how we loved the rain as a child. But as we get older we try to avoid it. We are always cautious about when it’s going to rain. But ever since I started running, I have found that love for the rain back. Running in the rain, running over puddles, getting drenched, smelling petrichor, feeling the cool breeze. So many emotions altogether. It’s something special
