The importance of someone who listens

Last Sunday I was really stressed. I stressed about some things not working out. Stressed about things that were going to be changing in the coming weeks. I normally deal with stress well, thanks to my practice of meditation. I try to focus on things I can control and not think about things not in my control.
But I am not perfect. Nobody is. I do have moments where it gets harder, no matter how much my logical mind tries to convince me. In those moments it’s always important to be able to share with someone. I am lucky to have someone like that in my life. When I talk to that person, I don’t expect her to fix things for me. I don’t expect her to give me solutions. All I expect is for her to listen. That’s what she does exactly. She listens, and I share. That’s all it takes.
We all need someone like that in our life. Someone to just share things with. Someone who will be there to listen. We all have someone like this in our life, but most of the time we don’t give them the importance they deserve. So if you have someone like that, let them know how important they are to you. And more importantly, be there for them too.
