The Apple Event Twitter feature
Last night(Japan Time) Apple had their latest event. They announced the newest version of their M1 chip. The M1 ultra looks great. Being a person who loves tech, I am always excited about any new tech event. But today’s blog isn’t about the event itself but the marketing of Apple events.
Events by Apple have to be the best in the business. Especially ever since the pandemic, Apple’s online events have been better than any other company. Other than their amazing video production quality the one other thing that stands out is their marketing.
Before every Apple event, they have a well-planned marketing plan. The first part of the plan is letting the press and the biggest online tech creators know about the event. This makes them tweet about the event. Then the leaks and speculations start. But this is more or less normal for every company. But one thing Apple does extra is add a feature to every tweet with the Apple event hashtag on the day of the event. Anytime you like a tweet with that hashtag, instead of a normal heart animation, it’s an animation of the Apple logo.
This is something subtle and very clever. But the important thing is that this gets people talking. This spreads word of mouth and on the day of the event, this makes everyone tweet with the hashtag. As a result, even regular people who are not hardcore tech fans get updated about the event.
I think there’s beauty in simplicity. This one simple marketing trick is beautiful. I wish more companies started doing something unique too.
