How my view towards recruiters changed

I just finished my 1st week TEKsystems and I wanted to reflect upon my experience.

Before joining TEKsystems, just like a lot of my peers I had a very negative image of recruiters. I didn't feel they bought much value to job seekers and I realized that a lot of companies were mostly thinking about their personal gains and numbers.

I also interviewed with some other recruiting companies and throughout that process, I saw how they talked more about getting the sale as aggressively as possible regardless of how a candidate felt. This was something I also heard from my peers who were working at other companies too.

With this image in mind, I was looking for companies where I would actually be able to bring value to the candidates I partner with. I really wanted to find somewhere where I could actually bring change to people's lives. When I first interviewed at TEKsystems I had the impression that they would be similar to other companies. But throughout my interview process I realized how different they were.

Even though the differentiation really attracted me, I wasn't 100% sure how the experience would be until I joined the company.

Finally, after spending a week with the team I can say that it was one of the best decisions I made. Throughout the week I could see how my peers handled their candidates and in all the interactions I could understand how much they cared for the candidates. I understood how we as a company value the candidates as our long-term career partners.

I would like to thank Ashane Francis for introducing me to the company and Priyesh Perera for being a great mentor. I would also like to thank the whole Japan team for being warm and welcoming. Special thanks to Cody Kroll for being a leader whom I can approach anytime I want and learn directly from. It's certainly an environment where I can see growth.
