Casey Neistat Vlog 009

Yesterday it was Casey’s brithday. 7 years ago he started this daily vlog. I was going to post this yesterday but I was too tired to watch the video. So here it is. Vlog 009.
This vlog also has a cold open. It’s with his friend Karlie Kloss. He is asking her about the vlogs. Just two friends talking. Then cuts to his intro sequence.
Next up is a close-up shot. He talks about the story of Sisyphus and how it relates to his work. After that, it cuts back to the start of the day in the morning. He is sick. He talks about getting a parking ticket and then goes out to run. Even though he is sick. He runs. I do the same. After the run montage, he shares that running didn’t help his condition. I also thought the same when I ran during my sick days. He also talks about how he shoots his run while going to his office. He uses his iPhone for those shots.
Now he is back in his studio and it is story time. These are all locked off shots. He tells the story about his studio. How he got this space. He basically took a risk, bet on his skills and worked hard. While sharing this story he doesn’t do it with a single angle, he switches the angles throughout the video. It keeps people interested. Finally he ends the story with a shot from the studio in 2004.
The ending is a short montage and timelapse. It was one of those days when Casey didn’t have much to show throughout his day so he decided to tell a story from the past. He does this a lot in the future vlogs on days when he is sick or too busy to record. I enjoyed the episode. Can’t wait to watch the next one.
