Binoculars vs Drone- Story from today’s hike

Today I went back to my favorite mountain in Shinshiro, Mt Hongu. I went for one last hike before moving to Tokyo. Even though I had work in the afternoon, I woke up at 6 to complete the hike.
The hike went well. It was a beautiful day to hike. But this one moment at the top of the moment was one to remember.
I was setting up my drone to fly while this fellow old hiker was setting his binoculars to enjoy the view. He started asking me about the features of a drone and how it works. He then continued admiring the view with his binoculars. We were two people admiring the same beautiful view with different gadgets.
There was something special about that moment. Maybe only I think it is special. Because there was this guy maybe 50-60 years old. Hiking the same mountain as me, hiking it better I must say, using his binoculars to admire the surroundings. I was always fascinated by binoculars but by the time I was ready to use them we had better gadgets around us. So I never found the need to use one. While I used my gadget of choice, a drone, he didn’t just sit there. He asked me questions about the gadget. He wanted to know about it. He probably would have been a great drone pilot if his generation grew up with drones.
But whatever the gadget we chose, whatever age gap we had, there was one thing in common. We were both admiring nature. That’s the beauty of the moment.
