The Pixel 6 after a whole year; My experince

I have been using the Pixel 6 phone for more than a year. Before I trade in this for the Pixel 7 pro, I wanted to share a bit about my experience of using the phone.
Before getting the Pixel 6, I was using an iPhone. This was my entry back to Android. I loved using android from its early days. Although iOS and android don’t have that much of a difference nowadays, a decade back it was quite different. Back then the customization that android offered was difficult to get on an iPhone. Moreover, you had a lot more freedom using an android phone.
Nowadays the experience is quite similar. So I used the iPhone for a while. But when Google released its new Tensor chip, I had to go back to Android. I love the pure android experience. But I avoided the Pixel series because I wasn’t convinced about it’s capabilities. They were great budget phones but not flagship devices.
The Tensor chip changed my mind. I quickly pre-ordered the phone upon release. I got it within a week and my journey back to Android started.
First, let’s talk about the positives. The Pixel 6 paired with the Tensor chip provided a great user experience. I barely experienced any lag throughout my one year of usage. I also enjoyed the beautiful 90Hz display for content consumption. The other positive was the camera. This was the first time Google upgraded its camera sensor. This had a huge impact on picture quality. Especially in the nighttime. I had a lot of fun taking pictures with this camera. The final positive experiences were all the unique smart features that only a pixel phone has. The now-playing feature, the fast speech-to-text, the google lens integration, etc. All these made using the pixel a great experience.
Enough of the positives, time to speak of the negatives. The first thing I immediately disliked about the pixel was the fingerprint scanner. It is probably the worst under-display fingerprint scanner. It was also very slow. When I put on a tempered glass protector, it got worse. It was almost unusable. Thanks to smart unlock my life was easier. I could easily keep my phone unlocked as long as my smartwatch was connected to it. But not everyone will make this extra step. The other negative was the battery life. I wouldn’t say the Pixel 6 lasts a full day of moderate usage. Sometimes I am out of battery if I spent some parts of the day taking pictures and videos. I also didn’t enjoy how slowly the phone charged. Other than these there were quite a few software bugs that got fixed over time. These didn’t help with the user experience.
As you can tell from my experience, it was mostly positive. I loved using the phone. I would recommend the phone to anyone. It’s a great budget phone at the moment. But do check the price of the other version they released. You might be better off getting the 6a or maybe the Pixel 7. I am excited to get the Pixel 7 pro. I am pretty sure the new Tensor chip gives a much better experience when combined with the triple camera they have. Can’t wait to test it.
