The aisle seat or the window seat beside a kid?
Today I got on a plane for first the time in almost a year. As we get further away from the beginning of Covid, flights are starting to feel more normal. Except for the dreaded mask. We won’t ever get rid of the mask, will we? I don’t think so.
Anyways back to the flight. Every time I check in I am always hoping to get a window seat. Normally I ask the person if they can check if a window seat is available. But today I forgot. And my luck wasn’t working today, so I ended up getting the aisle seat.
As I approached the gate to my flight, I glanced at my ticket and realized I was 5C. It’s an aisle seat but it’s at the front. So I can get off early. That’s the only benefit of the aisle seat. You get to get out early and if you are in the front you are in luck. With that new sense of confidence, I went inside the plane.
As I take my seat I realize my luck is about to change again. I got the aisle seat in the front but next to my seat there are kids sitting. Not one row of families but two rows of families with kids. You know what that means? Lots of screaming throughout the flight. With that thought in mind I waited for take off.
Thankfully, the kids were not loud. They didn’t bother me as I went through 2-3 episodes of Seinfeld. It was a short 90 min flight and thank God I had Seinfeld to watch. It was a nice pleasant experience.
Anyways, I am back to my second home Beppu for a week. I will try to write a few blogs about the city the next few days.
