Ronaldo woke up and chose to be Kanye

I thought a lot about writing about this topic. I didn’t want to at first, but then I wanted to get all my thoughts out on paper, or this blog.
I went to bed watching Garnacho score a late winner for United’s last game before the World Cup. But I woke up this morning hearing about Ronaldo’s interview. It couldn’t have come at a worse time.
I did watch the original Ronaldo. But I didn’t grow up watching him. I just watched his last few years. But I did grow up watching Cristiano Ronaldo. Being a Manchester United fan, Cristiano was always special. He had a fairy tale time at the club. His exit to Real Madrid was also fine too. At that time it was difficult to take, but it was for the best.
When he came back to United, it was a big surprise. It was unexpected. But ultimately it was a commercial move. United didn’t want Ronaldo to go to City, so they stepped in. I don’t think Ole ever had Ronaldo in his plans. Ronaldo was still in great form. He performed great in his first season back. But you can’t build a team around a person who is retiring soon. It never made sense. It was always going to end bitterly.
But I never expected it to end this way. The full interview isn’t out yet, but it never should have been done by Ronaldo. He could have left the game gracefully like Federer. But he decided to be Kanye or Ye. He would still be regarded as one of the best players of his generation. But it does hurt a section of his fans. Seeing how he is ending his career. All eyes will be on him to show Manchester United that he is right. He has to perform. He has to show that Ten Haag was wrong. But if he doesn’t, who buys Ronaldo after all the drama?
