Importance of storytelling in business presentations
Storytelling is everywhere. Every day we encounter multiple moments where there is a story. Where a story is being told or a story is unfolding. Stories have a huge impact on our lives. Stories have a huge power to influence.
That is why I have been trying to improve my storytelling. I was looking for a course on video storytelling on Udemy. I ended up founding one about storytelling for business presentations. It was a short one, so I decided to give it a try.
The course was quite insightful. The course talks about how to add short stories in business presentations to influence the audience. The stories need not be long and out of context. They need to be short and subtle. They shouldn’t feel like a separate part of the presentation. They should help drive the point of the presentation. One other tip was that the stories either should be personal or stories about other people. But the most impactful stories are true stories. The course also shared some ideas on how to deliver those stories during presentations.
The course reminded me of how I used to like reading short fables as a kid. They were quite easy to read and had a moral behind them. Those were the best kind of stories then and it seems it’s similar now too.
