Four months in the recruitment industry

I didn’t plan on writing a blog about recruitment every month. But this month ended with a pleasant surprise. So, why not.
It’s been four months in my new career path. It is never easy changing careers. But I got lucky. From day one I felt settled and enjoyed the work a lot.
The things I enjoy so far might seem quite unique. Certain traits from my life before recruitment have aided me a lot. For example, I was always proactive when it came to online messages. I had to read and respond to any email or message I got. I hardly kept anyone on read. I read all my emails. I never thought this trait would come in handy, but it did. A lot of the candidates I handle appreciate the fact that I always respond quickly.
The other trait that helped me in my job was my love for technology. I was always up to date with what was going on in the tech world. This was a big plus being in the IT recruitment industry. A lot of the things I needed to know for the job, I already knew. I was also eager to learn more. Because the things I needed to know were all about tech.
It’s been great so far. But it will definitely get more difficult. One big challenge I have faced so far is balancing my personal life and work life. I have been enjoying work a lot. So my personal hobbies have taken a back seat. I do need to start figuring out ways to fit both together. That is a struggle everyone has. Hope the next blog is about how I figured it out.
