Building relationships
It’s been almost 5 weeks into my new job as a recruiter. I was very interested in this career path and the first 5 weeks actually have been amazing. Today was probably the best day. But I will talk about that at a later date. Today I wanted to just share one important aspect of being a recruiter.
When you are a recruiter you are supporting a candidate’s career. It’s a big responsibility. It’s a big role and you can really impact lives. But the thing that will make sure your job is going smoothly is the relationships you build. A lot of recruiters treat candidates as numbers for their KPIs. But we have to remember, that they are humans just like us. It’s really important to understand them and make sure we can provide them with the best opportunities.
In order to do this, the relationship we build is highly important. We need to be able to find a connection with the candidate. We need to understand their situation and make sure we can build trust. Trust will be the foundation of the relationship. if you are just like every other recruiter, the candidate won’t really care about you.
This aspect of building relationships is what I love about the job a lot. I love talking to new people and building relationships. It’s something I enjoy regardless of the job. It has been great to be able to do this for the past 5 weeks. Let’s see how it goes in the future.
