Bonding with cats- my experience so far

It’s been almost six months since I have been living with two cats. It’s the first time I have had pets. I did write a blog about them when I first got them but I wanted to give an update.
The first month obviously wasn’t easy. I needed to get used to them and they needed to get used to me. I also needed to get used to feeding them and cleaning their litter box. But finally, after a month or two things felt normal. They also started to accept me as their friend.
Ever since they got used to me things have been pretty smooth. I have been able to bond with them in a way that I never thought I would. When I first saw them I avoided them. I wanted them to not come near me. I didn’t know what to expect. I knew they were just small cats. But I thought since I am new they would bite me or scratch me. What they actually did was just walk around and sniff. Even then I was not comfortable picking them up or petting them.
Fast forward 6 months and things have completely changed. It’s easier for me to be around them. I don’t mind them walking around me or sitting on my lap. It’s great to have them around the house. They are always curious and they add liveliness to the empty house while I am in the office.
Not being able to take a vacation or travel anywhere might be a little inconvenient. We have to plan keeping the cats in mind. But other than everything else has been great.
