You will never be perfect
When you grow up in a competitive society, you always want to be the best. I don’t know how it is in the west, I can only talk about Asian countries. When you are in an Asian family, you are in competition as soon as you are born.
The day you come out, your parents start competing. You are their weapon in their battle against society. They battle with other parents with similar weapons. This competitive mindset gets passed over to you. As you grow up you want more approval from your parents. This craving for approval moves over from parents to society. Now you start competing with society. And the cycle continues.
This is a vicious cycle. One that is hard to stop. If you are stuck in this cycle, you should remember that you will never be perfect. You will never win the competition. You will always have flaws.
It’s not the end of the world. It’s okay to have flaws. The flaws make us humane. The flaws differentiate us. The flaws make life exciting. The flaws are an opportunity to learn and grow. If you think you are perfect, you are definitely wrong.
Lose the competitive mindset. Embrace your flaws.
