Why you might need a mentor

Today I had a call with someone who wanted advice on building consistency in daily routine and content creation. I have this post pinned on my Facebook asking anyone who wants advice on building consistency. Because over the past few years I have been good at building consistency at a number of things and wanted to help anyone out who is struggling. Gladly a few people reached out and I feel great every time I get a call.
I am still not a proper mentor but I would love to be one in the future. Something I love as much as personal growth is seeing others grow. So being a mentor or personal coach would be a perfect match for me. As I finished that call I was thinking about the questions, ‘‘Why would someone need a mentor?” and that is the question I want to look at in this blog. Not answer, look at. I don’t have the answers yet.
The first reason I could think of is how much time you would save. If you have a mentor who has walked the path you want to walk, they have a done a lot of research to get where they are. That research is something you will also have to do. But if you find a mentor, they can help you save that time. They can share their experience and help you find the path you seek.
The second reason I could think of is finding someone to talk to. Nowadays although we share a lot online, we hardly share anything real. It’s hard for us to be real in our social surroundings. Finding someone to confine to is important. Having someone to talk to who has a similar mindset will help make sense of things. That is at least in my opinion.
The third reason might be related to the first two. Finding a support system. Some people are lucky and they can figure things out. But a lot of people need a support system. A mentor can provide that support system.
Well that’s what I could come up with. Maybe in a future blog I will write this better. Till then, if you have anything to add, feel free to comment.
