Coming from Bangladesh the heat in Japan was never a problem. Every time summer came, while everyone complained about the humidity and the temperature, my mind kept on reminding me that this feels like home.
7 years into my life in Japan I finally move to Tokyo. I finally realize how bad summer in Japan can get.
I had experienced summer back in Beppu and Toyohashi. Both of them are pretty small compared to Tokyo. But both cities have a lot of nature and not many people. This I think helped a lot during summer. It was hot but the lack of people and the abundance of nature helped ease the summer here. It did get hot but I never found myself complaining.
After 7 years, Tokyo has made me realize how bad summer can get. It was 35 degrees today and I could feel the heat all over my body. I went out to do some work at the city hall and as soon as it started getting towards the middle of the day, it started to get hotter and hotter. The lack of nature and abundance of people does impact this situation. It didn’t help me cope with the heat, rather made me hate the weather.
With all that said, I still enjoy summe.r It’s hot but there’s a lot to do here.
