“They lived happily ever after”, did they?

The majority of the feel-good movies emphasize the happily ever after. They lived happily ever after. Growing up you start believing in the happily ever after. You think that is the ultimate goal.
But as you grow up, you realize there’s nothing called the happily ever after. Life will never be continuously happy. It will never be that for a good reason. Life needs the ups and downs. It can’t always be up and up. Excess of anything isn’t good. There needs to be a balance. Just like day and night, life needs happy and sad. But as kids growing up we get obsessed over the happily ever after. It takes some time to accept this as false.
The sooner you can accept it, the easier life becomes. You start expecting less from life. You start finding meaning in life. You stop searching for that happily ever after.
