The answer might be in front of you

A 4-year-old kid asks around 200-300 questions every day according to some studies. That's a lot of questions for 24 hours. But this curiosity as a kid decreases as we grow up. We tend to think that asking questions is a sign of not knowing. But in a lot of cases asking questions is a fundamental pillar of learning.

As we grow older we are faced with bigger questions. Although these questions might carry a lot of weight, sometimes that answers might be simpler than we think.

Last month at work I had a really simple task that reminded me of this valuable life lesson. It was one of those moments in life when you stop, think what just happened and laugh at yourself. We all encounter moments like these now and then. I believe it's really nice to look back on these moments. It's a way of life teaching us things that we needed right at that moment.

So what was this task? I had to count chairs. Yeah. Pretty simple. Find out the amount of chairs in the room so that I could confirm that we had the required amount. I started counting. One, two, Three....sixty-six! Done! But as soon as I finish I realize this number at the back of the chair. Then I realize every chair in the room has a specific number. That number was a counter for the chairs. The last number read 66! Instead of counting and reconfirming multiple times, I could have just looked at that number and we would be done! I was standing there. Had a good laugh. But it did teach me something important.

Sometimes in life, the answer we seek is right in front of us. The answer we crave so much might just be there, beside us, waiting for it to be seen. But we never notice. We are always distracted. Sometimes the answers to our big life defining questions need not be profound revelations. They might just be simple in front of us.

Think about the question, ''What's your passion?''. The task of finding our passion. Something we love doing. Something that we want to pursue has a career. A lot of us have a hard time finding our passion. It's a question that haunts us more nowadays thanks to the internet. We see so many people realizing their passions that we crave to find ours. But sometimes the answer might be simple, right in front of us.

If we are looking for our passion, we should look at activities that we enjoyed doing as a kid. Activities that we still enjoy. Things that we end up doing even though we are not obligated to do. It might be singing, dancing or writing. Sometimes things that we loved as a kid might be the one that is our passion. Sometimes it might be something that we love doing as an adult. We never know what it is until we take our time and notice.

So next time you are looking for answers to the big questions. maybe stop and notice. Notice the simplest of things. Because they might have the answer that you are looking for.
