The Tokyo Blur
This week’s theme for my weekly photo series on Tokyo was The Tokyo Blur.
”When you live in Tokyo, somedays you don’t realize how time flashes by you. One day you wake up it’s Monday and the next time you blink it’s Friday. You don’t know how the days, weeks, and months pass by. All you know is that you are in a rush. Going after the train of life, that never seems to stop. From one station to another, from one platform to another. You keep on moving or you are moved. But you never can stop.
Some weeks are just a blur. Your mind tries to recall what happened but all you have in your mind are snapshots. Snapshots of the days that have gone, the days that were. The snapshots aren’t even clear. They are just a blur. A blur that never seems to make sense but your senses seem to make something of them.”
That is what I feel every time I get on the train. I see so many people every day in a rush. Always looking so stressed. Never a moment to spare. Sometimes I am a part of this pack but I do try to get back to reality quickly. I try to take things slow. I don’t like to rush for trains. I like to go at my own pace. I feel more in control that way. But the majority of people I observe every day are in some kind of rush. Rushing to work, rushing to lunch, rushing to the platform, rushing out of the station. The rush never stops. I have never seen people so restless. Tokyo life really fascinates me.
