The importance of keeping your word
A few months ago I learned a new word from my Japanese grandmother. She defined me as 有言実行. I had never heard that word but did sound interesting. She explained that it means someone who keeps their word. She told me that whenever I tell her I will do something, I get it done. She loves this quality about it.
Ever since that day, I had 有言実行 written in my Facebook bio. I do believe I keep the significance of the word. I keep it by keeping my word. If I say something, I will get it done, by hook or by crook. I like keeping my word and that’s very important to me.
In your life, you will find that majority of the people don’t keep their word. They don’t put much value behind their word. They think words are just words. But if you give someone your word, you should work on keeping it. It helps build trust in the relationship.
I don’t like working with people who can’t back their word. You can talk all the talk you want but you have to back it when the time comes. But most people can’t.
