I wrote a blog about EPL coming back. I was happy and excited. But I forgot I support United. I am bound to be disappointed.
United had been targeting the transfer of Gakpo for months. Gakpo is one of the finest talents from the Netherlands. Erik Ten Haag is one of the finest dutch managers. All things looked set for a big-money move to United. But then today I woke up and saw the news that Gakpo is bound for Liverpool.
The United board had all the time in the world. Gakpo was also interested in a move to the premier league. All they had to do was spend the money. But they didn’t. They let such a good player go to the rivals who weren’t even rumored to buy him.
The Glazer and the board under them haven’t served United well in the past decade. The ownership survived due to the brilliance of Sir Alex Ferguson. But when he left things fell apart. You could see the cracks in the club open up. I hope the ownership changes soon. I hope we can see better days.
