My struggles with reading in 2022

2020 was my first proper year of reading. I got into reading in late 2019. That helped me keep momentum and read a lot in 2020. I took 2021 pretty slow in terms of reading. I didn’t have any particular goal. But for 2022 my goal was to read 12 books. I didn’t set a big target. I wanted to read one book a month.
Now in October 2022, I can say I failed my goal miserably. It has been a poor year of reading. I only read 3 books. I am way behind my goal. I have struggled a lot ever since I moved to Tokyo.
The beginning of the year was fine. I was going at my pace of a book a month. But then I started a big philosophical book which took more than a month, almost two. That experience leads me to rethink my approach. When I could formulate a new strategy, I was on the verge of moving to Tokyo.
The move didn’t really help. I got busy with a lot of new things. I did get the chance to make time slowly but I couldn’t just get there. I don’t know why. Sometimes I feel as if I am reading for the sake of reading. I am not like other readers who love to jump at the prospect of a new book. In my case, maybe I am happy with the image of being a reader and not actually being a reader. I am not sure. I will still give it a try and see how things go.
