The world cup is in less than 30 days! The biggest sporting event. Yes, there is the Olympics. But it doesn’t have the hype the football world cup has. Since the Olympics has multiple events and each event has its own fandom. But for any football fan, everything stops during the world cup. Even the casual football fan comes alive.
I used to love the world cup festivities back in Bangladesh. As you can see from the picture, the streets are full of flags of different countries. You can see flags of different countries waving out of most windows and roofs. Everyone is ready to back their favorite team. The conversation around the world cup is everywhere.
The world cup is back again after four years. I don’t like the fact that it is in Qatar. Lots of controversies around the event. That’s something I am not on board with. I wish it was held somewhere else. It is also being held at a weird time of the season.
Insite of all that, it is the world cup. This world cup is a bit difficult to predict. No clear favorites. There maybe lots of surprises due to the timing of the world cup. Can’t wait. Ready for the spectacle!
