THE YEAR OF FOCUS

Happy New Year! It’s been a while since I wrote here. But it’s a new year, so why not a fresh start.

Every year in Japan I see that it gets named after a specific animal. The origin of this naming is from China and 2021 is supposed to be the year of the Ox. Ever since I learned about this unique practice I thought to myself, ‘‘Why not I start something like this for myself'?’’. One specific core mindset for the year.

That is what I started to do in 2020. 2020 for me was The Year of Less. To focus less on the externals and more on what I wanted to do. To do things more on my intentions. To be able to live and enjoy a simple life. Luckily despite the pandemic, I have been able to fulfill most of my intentional goals for 2020. I will talk about those in detail in a video. Do subscribe to my Youtube Channel if you want to know what I did and how I fulfilled my goals.

Back to 2021. It’s a new year and a new day. Anything new sparks our brain and gives us a boost of good hormones. That is why most of us end up starting a year with hopes and dreams and resolutions. But as you know most resolutions don’t tend to stick because most of us put unrealistic ones. The best way to do resolutions is to break them down into actionable items that you can do every month or every week. Instead of looking at the goal 365 days later, you end up looking at it in smaller increments. This will definitely help you stick to them.

For me 2021 will be the year of focus. I have specific skills that I want to work on and improve on. Rather than focusing on doing a lot of things I want to focus on a few and do them right. I will talk about them in detail on my video but one of them is to avoid the distraction of Facebook.

I evaluated my social media usage in 2020 and the one thing I kept on wasting my time most on was Facebook. I didn’t find much value in it. It was rather toxic and full of negativity. I spent time on other social platforms too but I got much more value from them. But when it came to Facebook it was mostly negative and a waste of time. So after almost a decade of being addicted to it, I will switch off. Might hamper me from getting to know what my friends are up to but that is one sacrifice I am willing to make to focus on this year.

I hope you also start the year with good intentions. If you ever want to talk reach out to me on Instagram. I am mostly active there and would love to help out in any way I can. Thank you and I hope I can see you around throughout the year.
