I still love journaling after 826 days

I have been journaling digitally for the past 826 days. I started in 2020 and haven’t stopped yet. It has evolved a lot in the past 2 years but one thing that hasn’t changed is my love for journaling. I have talked about this before on the blog but I just feel like appreciating this practice again.
Today as I was entering my entry for the day, I was feeling thankful about starting this daily practice. So for those who are thinking about journaling I wanted to talk about some of the benefits I get from journaling.

1. Clarity:
Journaling helps me find clarity. As I sit down at the end of my day and write about my day it helps me look back and reflect on the day. It helps me think about what went good and what went bad. It helps me learn every single day. It also helps me smile as I look back on a good day. All of these feelings culminate into clarity. I am clear about what happened that day and what I can do better in the next day.

2. Documentation:
Journaling helps me document what is happening in my life. Different people journal in different ways. For me, it is about documenting my day. I try to write in detail about what I did that day, what I ate and how I felt about any particular event. On some days it is brief, while on others it is elaborate. But all of it is documentation. So if anyone in the future asks me what did you do on 2/22/2222 I can tell them exactly what I did.

3. Reflect:
All the documentation I do through journaling helps me look back and reflect on my progress. It helps me see how I have grown as a person. It would be a tragedy if I lose my journal but that is why I do it digitally. It’s harder for me to lose and I can have multiple back-ups.

That is all for today. I am really thankful to this practice and I hope if you are interested do give it a try.
