I almost gave up at 5km, but

I have been trying to mix up my running routine. One of the things I have been trying to do is run 10km every single week. I usually don’t do long runs, so I wanted to try something new.
Today’s 10km ended up being on a rainy day. Running in the rain is fun but not easy. It is much easier for our bodies to be tired. You also have to be more careful.
Today was such a run. It was a gloomy day. It started to pour. But today was my day for running. I had to run. I couldn’t skip. I put on my shoes and headed out.
The first 1km is usually difficult. Our bodies are adapting to the movement. But after that things get easy>
I was enjoying the weather. Enjoying my run. But 5km in my body decided to give up. I couldn’t feel much energy in my legs. My breathing was also not great. I was slowly losing the strength and the willpower to run.
I was about to give in, my body was for sure. But my mind told me to just do one more km. I kept on saying one more km every single time and slowly we were at 8km. I could surely got through the 10km. The last km was much easier than expected.
Sometimes we might feel we are down and out. We might think we have zero energy. But we humans always have a reserve. We always have the opportunity to go beyond what we think. Today was such a day.
