England going home, end of Southgate’s tenure?

End of England’s campaign. They came far. They were promising. They were the better team. But they are out. France qualify.
It was a game of ifs and buts. If Harry Kane scored that penalty then things would have been different. But the referee made some bad decisions. I can go on and on. But it won’t change the result.
England did play well in this world cup. I didn’t expect much because they had a pretty bad run coming into this world cup. They were struggling. But the team lifted up the spirits and put on a good show.
But one person who didn’t has to be the manager. Southgate has an abundance of talent to use but he never seems to make the best use of them. Yes, he has had some great runs in tournaments and some great results. But he has never been the best man for the job. Even against France. The game was there for the taking, But he took so long to make some important changes.
Thus it ends. The world cup ends for England. But I hope Southgate also leaves England. This team needs a far better manager. I hope Southgate proved me wrong, but I don’t see it happening.
