Casey’s first video since April

Casey uploaded a video! It was a surprise. I just wrote a blog about his old vlog. I didn’t plan on doing another Casey blog. But here we are.
This one is pretty interesting. Before talking about the video, let’s talk about the thumbnail. In most Casey videos the thumbnail is just a screenshot from a part of his video. He doesn’t usually create thumbnails. But for this one, if you notice carefully, this was a photo that was edited just for his thumbnail. Maybe he will do these more?
It starts off like his old vlogs. Random shot from the day. Then a quick montage. After that the close-up shot.
He talks about him being at the Cannes Festival in France. He shares a bit about the event. Then we see some drone shots. His usual use of drone shots to cut from one scene to another. He goes back to the beginning of the day in his hotel.
He goes around the city with Candice. He has quite a few handheld shots. Nice quick passage of scenes. He is then back at the hotel to get ready for the event.
He cuts to a locked-off shot. He tells the story about his first time at Cannes. It was quite a few years ago. This is the story part of the vlog. This is what he is great at. He talks about how he got to be in Cannes. His journey with filmmaking. He also compares the way a movie is presented in Cannes to how you can share a movie to the millions just by pressing publish online.
He is at the festival. He mixes up shots with his small camera and his sunglasses with drone shots. He brought the Rayban facebook sunglasses that have the camera on them.
After the shots from the event he shares a bit about archive footage from the previous Cannes festival. It’s great how he keeps all these footages. It’s certainly not easy. But if you are a filmmaker you should have an archive. I am building mine.
